Karma strikes little monsters...”A Star is Born” audience reviews plunges below “Venom”

Imagine high 90s reviews actually staying there, it was obviously gonna drop a minuscule amount at that.

Madonna's directorial debut, Filth and Wisdom, is a hilariously sexy tale of three roommates who must delve into mischievous and naughty behavior in pursuit of bigger and brighter futures. A Ukrainian immigrant, A.K., finances his dreams of 'trans-continental superstardom' with his band, Gogol Bordello, by turning tricks as a role-playing cross dresser. As A.K. literally whips the privileged of London into shape, he also secretly pines for the object of his affection, Holly, an aspiring ballerina looking for her big break while moonlighting as a slippery stripper. Meanwhile, Juliette steals medicine from her pharmaceutical job in hopes of quenching her dreams of helping Africa's youth. Filth and Wisdom is every bit as erotic and playful as it is poignant and touching, revealing the universal struggles we all face in our pursuits of happiness. (IFC Entertainment)

Sadly for Gaga critical acclaim ≠ $...

You don't think this will open her up to future, lucrative roles in Hollywood? I feel like this will definitely help her line up more acting gigs.

But in the post before you said the album didn’t get any reviews?

Can you quote? :) I said that Liberation fell off the charts not that it wasn’t reviewed.

And then when I responded that it was critically acclaimed from sites that mattered, you responded by showing the reviews of less relevant sites.

Pitchfork or NME are less relevant than LA Times ok lmfao1

she is playing a singer, I mean it's not that different from her real life persona it's not like she's playing some ground breaking role... another musical? Like I mean look at Beyoncé good movies with numbers but she's not yet consider a good actress (she's not)

Lol nope.

It hasn’t happened for most singers and Gags truly isn’t the best out of all of those who tried it. In fact, she‘s one of the worst actresses.

She was lucky to be part of this project but that’s it.

If Madonna were smart, she'd earn herself an executive credit for that upcoming biopic and stack her chances for an Academy nom / possible win if it ends up being as acclaimed as the script was, but instead she's trying to stop this film's tracks. ari6

Anyway, hooray for an acclaimed biopic in 2022, we love a legendary career

Hmm, you can believe that, but not according to the industry that's going to offer her her next role. They seem to love her acting here. Whether it's a fluke is one thing (and a possibility), but the reception for her acting here has been nothing short of phenomenal. I'm not saying she's going to switch to being a full time actress but I don't think she will have a hard time finding producers who want to cast her in the near future. There were already rumors about her joining the Birds of Prey film (a spinoff of Suicide Squad about Harley Quinn and her crew) but I don't think that happened for one reason or another.

Y'all are comparing the box office of a PG-13 comic book superhero movie with a built in fanbase to an R-rated romantic/drama musical? Really? The ignorance of some people on this forum knows no bounds.aura1

Especially when Marvel based movies routinely gross 800 million + rip4

10 movies vs 3 movies

No one claims Mariah is a good actress

Madonna stans try to claim Desperately seeking Susan and Evita somehow make Madonna acting comparable to Gaga’s.

Well she was good in Evita but that is because it was a musical with no dialogue. All she did was perform like she always does and we know she‘s good on stage. She just sucks when it comes to movies. In fact, she‘s terrible and no one is denying that but she did get good reviews for those two. Plus, it was a different time. Evita came after the Erotica backlash and literally helped rebuild Madonna‘s reputation and repair her image after Erotica.

The difference is that neither of the two were directorial debuts of an acclaimed actor. ;)

I mean...it is a chick flick after all. The soundtrack was very successful and the movie is rather cheesy but an 80s classic. Still, the difference between critics and audience rating is jarring.

And since we‘re talking about the difference between audience and critics rating: Melodrama was very well received by critics but was a huge commercial flop. oprah14

Sis The Bodyguard was released in late 1992. You have demonstrated in pretty much every single post in this thread that you have no idea what you're talking about. Quit while you're behind.

LM's were creating fake reviews to sabotage Venom and they got exposed, isn't just in this forum, the fanbase is getting dragged everywhere. They started the comparison of the 2 movies with all those insecurities. aura1

in this case Madonna fans weren't the ones bringing Madonna's acting skills to this thread, it was you trying to make Gaga look better, so it's fair to bring Moo & the worst musical film ever seen.
