Indonesia bans Ariana, Rihanna, Rita songs

Recommended Posts

Over a dozen western songs have been banned from being played in daylight hours by Indonesia's conservative West Java province.

A list of 85 songs, including 17 western songs, has been singled out by the West Java broadcasting commission for containing what was deemed to be adult and offensive content.

This includes Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You", Ariana Grande's "Love Me Harder", and Bruno Mars's "That's What I Like".

A memorandum issued on Tuesday, 26 February warned that the listed songs should only be played or broadcast between 10pm and 3am.

“In this case, what is banned is not the songs, but the lyrics of the songs that contain *****graphy, *****graphic association, and obscenity,” Rahmat Arifin, deputy head of the commission, told Tempo.co.

The full list of Western songs is as follows:

“Love Me Harder” – Ariana Grande feat. The Weeknd
“Wild Thoughts” – DJ Khaled feat. Rihanna
“Mr. Brightside” – The Killers
“Dusk Till Dawn” – ZAYN
“Let Me” – ZAYN
“Sangria Wine” – Pharrell & Camila Cabello
“Bad Things” – Machine Gun Kelly & Camila Cabello
“Plot Twist” – Sigrid
“Shape of You” – Ed Sheeran
“Overdose” – Agnez Mo feat. Chris Brown
“Makes Me Wonder” – Maroon 5
“That’s What I Like” – Bruno Mars
“Versace On The Floor” – Bruno Mars
“**** it, Don’t Want You Back” – Eamon
“Midsummer Madness” – 88rising
“Till it Hurts” – Yellow Claw
“Your Song” – Rita Ora
