Warner Music Group in CRISIS
Maluma leaves Warner Music Group after 16 months, Signs with Universal Music Group

Breaking news! Superstar Maluma officially left his long-time music corporation, Warner Music Group, after signing a three-albums contract 16 months ago before the release of the magnum-opus "Maniac", ultimately breaching the contract. Warner Music Group's spokesperson told us the bomb dropped earlier today without any further notice. "We were all shocked", he said, "This is the biggest fear the company could have gotten. This puts the company in a total crisis."

Maluma started in Warner as a one-hit wonder with his first single "Bad Habits" and ended up being one of the biggest and best selling artists in the world as well as the best selling male artist of all time. In the over 1 year that passed, Maluma has stared as the face of Encore, Two Grammy Awards, 3 Billboard Music Awards, 2 Video Music Awards, Four #1 singles, a Diamond certified album, a sold out $97m gross world tour, over 2b streams on Encore, over 4b views on CAL Tube and over 50m records in total sold. Maluma has become a global phenomenon and has achieved this in the shortest timeframe.

According to our sources, Warner Music Group were planning on earning around $304m off Maluma's business coming from tour, campaigns, merch & his upcoming second studio album this year alone, confirming the big loss for the company which currently stands on $728m in net worth.

Warner Music Group has already filled a lawsuit against Republic Records, Maluma and his manager, Ben Mappel, who was chosen in 2018 as the Top Manager of the year for his assistance in Maluma's rapid rise in commercial success. Mappel has also left Warner Music Group to a new agreement with Universal for 5 years.

Universal Music Group's spokeperson confirmed the news and told us: "We are very excited to be managing Maluma & Republic Records. Maluma's success should not be taken for granted and is a result of the hard team-work from the people surrounding him. We hope they will feel at home."

Although Republic Records did not confirm on their plans on dealing with the $50m for the breach of contract, our sources tell us that Universal Music Group will be paying for it entirely and will take responsibility for the contract breach. It is rumored that Maluma has signed a contract for three album cycles in Universal with a signficant income promised to Universal (75% from tours and 65% from total income), making it the most rewarding contract signed so far at Universal.

The departure of Maluma from Warner puts the company in a very complicated and difficult spot. With Frank Ocean being ultimately their biggest client now who is not under Republic Records, we can expect a big increase in the monthly investment towards Ocean.
