Did Beyoncé invent feminism?

Recommended Posts

Literally no one was talking about feminism and making movements about it etc. since Bey released self-titled 5 years ago. nat1

I honestly feel like Bey was responsible for the awareness and then suddenly everyone started talking about it cry2

Do you agrih that Beyoncé educate the world the meaning of feminist? eddie.png

Is she the inventor and face of the modern-day feminism? giveup3

This is absolutely not true. Unless you’re strictly speaking about pop music forums frequented by uneducated gay tweens, the conversation around feminism and women’s rights has been going on in the mainstream for over a century. rip4

She invented feminism, marching bands, black empowerment, visual albums, and essentially life on Earth since she’s basically God in human form.

She's been doing that since 2006 tho. B'day had an anthology album and literally no one has ever released a full-length visual album before Self-titled eddie.png

oh and you forgot about the surprise release. eddie.png

Yeah but it's undeniable that Bey was the one that made feminism popular in this decade. It maybe was a thing before but like ppl in this generation won't be raving about it if it wasn't for Bey. ari5

Artists had surprise-released albums days prior to an actual release before Beyoncé. You also have to remember, surprise releases would NEVER work in the CD/physical era. Beyoncé literally capitalized off of the peak of the digital era plus her already evolving God-like complex and massive budget/star power. She did successfully be the first to combine a visual album as a surprise release, but as with everything else her fans ignore, these were things that already existed on smaller scales she benefited off of, yet her stans think she actually invented. oprah14

Feminism has existed at least since the 19th century and it's now on its third wave

And no Beyonce didn't bring it into the mainstream, it happened naturally and organicly because it was inevitable, the culture was heading that way More and more celebrities started talking about it especially women who spoke against the discrimination they receive. That's why when Beyonce came out as a feminist it wasn't really a surprise.

I like Bey and the beyhive can brag about her having the first visual album, her being an amazing performer and what not but saying she brought feminism to the mainstream lol3
