NYLON Magazine interview quotes

Quote

On one Loneliest Time track, a western-tinged torch song, Jepsen sounds flayed, her voice tender and exposed over a scaled-back guitar. Elsewhere, she delivers nostalgic, synth-forward bops ripe for twirlingunder a disco ball.

Quote

She sent her publisher some 30 to 40 songs she was considering for the album, which she narrowed down from a hundred song ideas through a “mad, scientific process” involving charts and voting systems. (“I overwrite. There's no way to sugarcoat that.”)

why alphabetical order? ari1

That’s not the actual track positions but the way they were placed in the data they got. We know “Beach House” is track 6 and “Western Wind” is #8 and can speculate that #1 is “Surrender My Heart” but CRJ changed the title for that track. bey7

First Review: 12 New Fall Albums You Must Hear - USAToday

Jepsen is forever chiseled into pop's Mount Rushmore thanks to 2015's "Emotion," a wall-to-wall masterpiece of sparkling synth-bops and soaring, sax-assisted anthems. The Canadian singer reaches similarly euphoric heights on her sixth album "The Loneliest Time," which despite the glum title, features some of her brightest and boldest songs in years. The infectious one-two punch of "Joshua Tree" and "Talking to Myself" alone is enough to erect a monument in Jepsen's honor. – Ryan
