Mariah Carey has become the first artist in history to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart in four separate decades, with her scoring the top spot for the last tracking week of the old decade and the first tracking week of the new. The Elusive Chanteuse scored a No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the 1990s, the 2000s, the 2010s and now, the 2020s. The Billboard Hot 100 data combines radio airplay, sales and streaming data, and the latter measure likely boosted Carey's song to the top. The record is also one of few songs with at least 72.2 million streams in one week, Billboard reported. A few other artists have topped the chart in three different decades, including Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Madonna and Usher, but Carey gets the four-decade crown, one that is uniquely hers -- and with what's now the highest-charting holiday song of all time.

Ending an incredible 2019 run for Mariah, which kept the song at #1 on the Hot 100 for three weeks, the song is resting comfortably at #1 in Canada, Germany, Australia and matched its all time peak in the UK, where it's sitting at #2.

Oh, so it's because it charted in 2019 AND the first day of 2020? mad5 A bit ridiculous to be honest.

It’s Billboard’s proclamation.

And actually, I think you’ll find that most of the tracking week is in 2020, but I have a feeling that won’t pacify you rip4
