Who had the best debut album?

Recommended Posts

Surprised no one has mentioned Whitney's debut.

Is this referring to the quality of the album it's self or the era? Or just success? BOMT is obviously the most successful but it's one brit's weakest albums imo brit10 its like her label tried to market her as urban/rnb at first then realized she appealed more to the teen-pop crowd and went with that halfway through the era. The albums full of cheesy tracks too like "Email my heart". I'd say the fame maybe mariah carey are the best debuts.

In terms of sales and impact - Britney

In terms of quality - Mariah

Born To Die and it shouldn't be up for debate.

brit8 yes but BTD only had 1 decent hit & left zero impact

OP asks best debut, not most impactful.

Even tho BTD had impact. 300 weeks into the BB 200, only Adele and Carole King have more.

Gaga, tbh. The Fame is just a fucking stellar album. For me, personally, MC is very close. Her debut is a super solid pop album for the time. A good mixture of uptempos and ballads, most of the tracks could have been released as singles and done well, and she was able to establish who she was as an artist. Not to mention one of the best vocalist in recorded history at her most pristine.

This is the correct answer clap3

*also BTD and DIL after those two, the rest are disposable

Britney obviously. How is this even a question though? Britney had the best debut of any of FOTP fave and arguably any artist in history.

The singles are the only good thing on that album.

Wait, was the OP asking for best in terms of commercial performance of the quality of the album? If it's the latter then then Ari wins followed by Mimi

Sales =/= quality as evidenced by Xtina and Britney's debuts which are both atrocious.

OT: BTD and The Fame (despite being INCREDIBLY dated) are the strongest debut albums of the list and got their respective girl started out on the best foot possible
