"The Voice" Shakeup: Gwen Stefani Out, Nick Jonas In for Season 20

Just weeks after announcing their engagement, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are taking some time apart… from competing against one another on The Voice, at least.

Stefani, currently a Season 19 Voice coach alongside Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson, will vacate her chair for the NBC competition show’s upcoming 20th season — and pass it down to returning coach Nick Jonas.

Jonas previously served as a coach for The Voice‘s 18th season — one of his team members, Thunderstorm Artis, made it all the way to the finals — before leaving his spot open for Stefani’s return in Season 19. When the show returns for Season 20 in spring 2021, Jonas will coach alongside returning artists Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson.

Is Kelly Clarksons still a judge ? ari9

Of course she is!
The other three judges are returning; it is only Stefani who is exiting.

This is likely going to play out like Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys' coaching switches a few seasons ago.

Season 20... Image about meme in no tea just facts by pawlawehne_1
Yet still no star to be seen from that show. rih9

Any act that usually receives post-competition attention did not win... besides, we all know these shows are about the judging/coaching panels, any way.
The days of Idol and X Factor are over.

Even XFactor eventually became more about the judges, hence why it died. Granted when the original UK series started most people were aware who the judges were but other than Sharon it wasn't like any of them are big names. Yet in the later years they were trying to hire established names like Cheryl, Mel B, Gary Barlow and Nicole from PCD. 2015 was by far the worst year though.

Cheryl and Mel B judging other peoples singing abilities is the best April Fools prank ever.

That was 2014, and I liked that judging lineup.

I know it was 2014, but i was meaning 2015 when they changed the line up and got rid of Dermot is what ruined it, it's never recovered since then.

Oh, you mean when Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw were judges. Yeah, that was a bit fucking off.

Yes, Nick was an awful choice especially.  Also having it presented by the late Caroline Flack and Olly Murs was a mistake too given that Dermot was well liked and arguably carries much of the show. The show was always too reliant on novelty acts for views. Jedward, Honey G, Wagner & Rylan etc

The ratings have been on a gradual decline for about a decade. It's also failed to create any success stories with the runner up or 3rd place contestant often having far more success long term.

Well, let's admit it: Simon returning Louis Walsh and not even giving us Sharon Osbourne was a mistake. Robbie Williams and his wife were bores.

Yes, they needed Sharon back as her humour was a big draw. I don't even get why Robbie's wife was there, what exactly has she done in the music industry other than marry a singer? She's literally only known for appearing on that middle aged woman show.

No clue. By the time Cheryl exited after 2015, I tuned out.
