Christina María Aguilera is a legend. Periodt. Say what you want about Britney outselling ha for centuries, but it doesn't remove the fact that Madame.exe is a legendary music icon in the music/entertainment scene. She might not come from a complex musicianship background like Gaga or had longevity like Mariah, but her oeuvre is undeniably iconic. She doesn't create as much iconic works as Madonna either and she's definitely not on Beyoncé-level of universal opulence, but her music speaks for itself! She is Xtina, the true elusive matador of pop! Everybody else can choke! alex1

Now (and honestly...since the late 000's) she's just lame af.

Bionic-Tina a.k.a. Madame.exe >>>>> Stripped Xtina. It's a shame that she chose to focus on the Burlesque soundtrack more. bey10

Please, if she played the game like Beyonce or Mariah (using payola, overexposing oneself etc)... she would be just as successful or even more so. But she took risks with her music, took time off to look after her children etc and didn't tour for 10 years.

Beyonce and Mooriah make the same safe music over and over.

My issue with Xtina is what most people's issue with her is: she's rarely ahead of the curve and frequently inconsistent. She has an amazing voice and has produced some amazing music but there's not much, if anything, that's uniquely hers and that's kinda hurt her legacy a little bit. Not to mention she makes incredibly poor career choices to just add to the things that hold her back. I kinda lump Xtina into the camp of being an undeniable icon as she's worked her way into the pop culture landscape and had her moments of being the center of pop culture's attention, but not exactly a legend as she hasn't really shifted the landscape of pop culture like pretty much all the pop legends have.

She's actually always ahead of the curve. I mean, who else presented an explicitly raunchy image as a popular female singer in 2002? Who else made a double disc album in 2006? Who made Lady Gaga?

It's just that, after 2010 her work ethic has become very spotty. It's also clear that music isn't the only priority in her life ever since Lotus flopped. She's always been the most interesting pop star out of the bunch, but because of her own miscalculations the shine has dimmed significantly. Only time will tell whether she's going to deliver a complete package of an era or no more of it.

Marilyn Monroe way back in the 50's.

None of them are female or pop artists that suddenly changed their sound into a jazz/pop combo.

Yet nobody compared Gwen Stefani Germanotta to GooGoo back in 2010 ny5

Have a cookie, sweetie.

I swear sometimes y'all aren't paying attention to what's written. I literally wrote the specific years to limit the scope, yet you guys are summoning Marilyn Monroe and Britney. Ah~ cry4
