Miley & Elton Are Covering a Metallica Song

Recommended Posts

When you think of hard rock music, do you think of a former Disney Channel star, a gay icon and a renowned classical cellist? Well, Miley Cyrus says you should.

In an interview with UK radio station Capital FM, Cyrus teased an upcoming collaboration she has planned with a few big-name stars, including Sir Elton John, Yo-Yo Ma and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. Oh, and the song they'll be performing together? A cover of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters."

The star revealed in the interview that part of her upcoming Metallica covers album will feature a version of the band's 1991 hit single. "I did a Metallica cover of 'Nothing Else Matters' featuring Elton John on piano, I've got Yo-Yo Ma, Chad Smith; so many all-stars in this band," she said. "I'm so excited about this collaboration."

Cyrus continued, saying she understands that the concept of the song may not make sense to some fans -- which is why she loves it even more. "I mean, having Elton John and Metallica and me ... I love when ingredients don't quite fit," she said. "Or it seems like a concoction that no one would ever put together, and you gotta have someone like [the song's producer Andrew] Watt that will take that risk."

Check out Miley's full interview with Capital FM's Roman Kemp below, where she discusses her Dua Lipa collaboration, makes some 2021 predictions and more.

Honestly if she took out Elton John out of it it would make more sense to me but I’d check it out anyways

Elton does rock music. Just not hard rock.

Also the song they're doing has a piano and he's done plenty of that mad5

I don't see why her doing the song with Elton be nonsensical mad5

Cause it sounds like a clusterfuck of ideas which gives the impression that its gonna be a hot mess. I mean if she said it herself that it can be perceived nonsensical then... I don’t know what’s surprising about me agreeing with her about that, lol.
