Why are Rihanna's biggest hits features?

Recommended Posts

Outside the UK No1Kurred for Calvin Harris when WFL was released. moo12

People don't even remember Jay-Z was on Umbrella.

The only one where you have a point is LTWYL but even that was really a joint effort, both artists were at their peak so it was only natural it would be huge. .

Her highest solo hit sold less then 10 million ari7

Meanwhile, all her peers biggest songs are SOLO.

LTWYL- 17.5M

WFL-12.9 M

Umbrella- 11.4 m

Solo-

Diamonds- 9.8 M

Take A Bow- 9.6 M

OGITW - 9.1 M

Out of those, only LTWYL is a feature, the others are her songs, one of which is literally a solo song.

Calvin Harris wrote and produced We Found Love, but that's no different than other songwriters/producers giving songs to other artists. He just wanted to be (rightly) featured.

And are we really calling Rihanna a feature on Umbrella when Jay-Z only rapped on the first verse?

By that logic Crazy in Love, Can't Hold Us Down, Problem, etc are all features dead2

I see ft CALVIN HARRIS and FT JAY Z..... also I said features NOT FEATURED. None of those songs are solo.

Sia sings some vocals on Diamonds. Does that make here a feature? ny2

Nah. She's not listed as a feature. It's a solo song

Well WFL is basically solo. Calvin is only making the instrumental. WHYB would've been a feature too.

OMG a kesha stan. Hey bestie cheer1

Well he's credited as a feature, so it's not a solo song.

But she has just as much input on Diamonds if not more than Calvin Harris on WFL.

Anyway you ignored my point. When WFL was released Calvin was a nobody outside the UK. The release of WFL and Rihanna being on it literally made his career.

Spoiler

"Feel So Close" was his first single release after WFL...

We can say the same for other mpgs. Why couldn't her solo songs reach her songs that had features? No matter how you try to spin it, WFL is not a solo song brit10

Yeah except two of the mentioned songs are her songs, she wasn't featured on any of them. They way you word the title makes it seem like her biggest hits are songs she was featured on that belonged to other artists.

I never said she's the featured artist. WFL and Umbrella are not solo, they include an extra artist.

Also, Work was the only WW hit from Anti. Needed Me, LOTB, and KIB were not as successful. They were also very local.

According to who exactly? You? Chart positions aren't always a good indicator of success. A number of songs on Anti besides Work were very successful overseas and have multiple certifications (even KIB)

I'm using overall streams.

Needed me- 874m spotify- 1.5m pure sales

LOTB- 693m spotify- 1.3m pure sales

KIB- 223m spotify- 550k pure sales

Work is the biggest and most global song from Anti.

KIB FLOPPED everywhere

NM well look at those ww sales 💀 cute platinum certification in the UK

LOTB only plat in denmark, france, and canada.

We already know how local ANTI was. 70% of it's units come from the U.S

Yeah because all of Taylor's recent singles are getting multiple platinum and diamond certs from every single country in the world. Majority of Taylor's sales are from the US as well. Just say you hate Rihanna and move on cause the battlegrounds obsessions are very weird rih4

Taylor's U.S only sales are bigger than the Bajan's WW sales. SO it doesn't matter to me lmfaoooo. Taylor's biggest hits are all SOLO, which is really hard to achieve 😳

Both Reputation and Lover were more global then Anti. Reputation is 1.1 million units ahead. Lover is only 300k units away, it'll get there in a few weeks.

Yet you have made multiple threads about it. gag1

You bragging endlessly about Taylor's sales and bringing up the sales of Rihanna's features (as if that diminishes her success) just shows me than you only stan Taylor for her success and the minute her sales diminish you'll drop her hander than the Billboard charts did to willow (which sucks cause that song was pretty good)

That'll never happen because i'm not a success stan. I enjoy quality albums from talented songwriters. something the Bajan lacks. I mean she's a label puppet with no talent. Not really surprised

Didn't that sheet of plywood you stan fake a country accent over subpar lyrics only privileged white teenage girls could relate to then proceeded to croak out garbage vocals over basic pop beats? Taylor's own fans said she was off key during one of her shows

She even sang "This Is What You Came For" and was pitchy as all hell

Don't throw stones if you live in glass houses. Taylor wished she could sing like Rihanna on her off days. Come for Rihanna when Trailor can sing even half as good as this:

Spoiler

Also you calling Rihanna "the Bajan" gives off extremely xenophobic vibes
