Demi Lovato | Dancing with the Devil... the Art of Starting Over | April 2, 2021

a lot of these songs are good and i am honestly shook. i was expecting trauma porn but Demi served mature lyrics, great production and for the most part restrained vocals well within her range.

very well done!

I must say I’ve never listened to one of her album in full before but this one I did and I am happy I did. It is really good and on 19 songs only 2 did not really catch me. Quality work! Well done Demi!

Wow, this is a super honest and personal album. I really love it and her vocals are amazing, better than ever really. Met Him Last Night is AMAZING, it's the collab I've been waiting for and their voices blend even better togehter than I would've thought. Definitely has to be a single and get a video asap!!

Liked every single song and I think it's my favorite Demi album already after only one listen oprah15  Kind of wish I'm Ready, What Other People Say and I Love Me weren't included though, I love them all but they kind of don't fit on the album

I'm Ready and I Love Me are not on the album though.

It's not that the song is bad, but Met Him Last Night sounds like it belongs to another album that is more synth-pop than ...Starting Over. It sounds unfinished btw.

What are you smoking. MHLN production and mixing sound insanely polished and it's a standout on the album. It's definitely finished considering it told the story it needed to tell.

They were included on the version I listened to on Spotify. Just realized that was the Expanded Edition though, so glad they’re not on the standard

Listening to it again, it does sound finished! Perhaps it was because I listened it for the first time yesterday so it hasn't absorbed yet to my brain.

They were added to an expanded edition on Spotify. dead4

I hope they don't take the standard edition out completely because I like how the album ends and that's the one I want to listen to.

It is already long enough and adding those songs that don't fit just for some streams making the album even longer is dead4

Btw is it only happening to me but are some song mixed lower than others ? Like MHLN is loud and polished and then What Other People Say is much quieter. I have to pump up my volume for some songs and then turn it down for others. confused1

A shame if they didn't mix the album properly cuz it's amazing.

The Art of Starting Over, Lonely People, and The Way You Don't Look at Me are the 1-2-3 punches I deserve to get! And I've been getting it since over and over! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!!!!

imo the whole album is a 1-16 punch for me dead4

theres also the three physical bonus tracks that i havent heard yet dead2

one on the UK and two in the US target/international deluxe physical

not a single song i'd delete off my phone except the intro since thats not a song dead2

New deluxe edition

20 Sunset

21 Anyone - live acoustic

22 Dancing with the Devil - live acoustic

23 ICU - live acoustic

And the expanded edition

20 I Love Me

21 Im Ready with Sam Smith

22 OK Not to be OK with Mar

Gotta listen to the new deluxe. Not bothering with the expanded edition since they added a bunch of tracks that don't fit at the end ruining the album journey.

I've listened to it a couple times to let it sink and I will say that it is her best album by far, and it's well written. But beyond that, it's nothing more than fine. For such a potentially remarkable concept, it's executed in an incredibly safe and distant manner. To be so personal, she sounds so disconnected and uninvolved in parts of it that it's hard to...care? Like her performance is fine, but she doesn't feel at all invested and she's not helped by production that's kind of the same way: sanitized and cold. I just see a lot of missed opportunities and it's not helped by the excessively long track list. I like about an EPs worth pretty well but outside those songs, the rest is pretty skippable honestly.
