Glitter and charm bracelet tho?

It depends how you measure it, both those eras outsold and out charted many other faves eras that were not regarded as flops. Charmbracelet by default can't be a flop as it done much better than the era before it.

Imo E=MC2 was a bigger flop as it was marketed as the follow up to Emancipation when it really wasn't.

Her team fucked up with Memoirs by not fully releasing Obsessed to the UK/Europe (hence why it charted poorly) and instead releasing IWKWLI.

2006-2021 and counting oprah10

Sis... 2012- .... She was irrelevant during her debut and the one that came before Red eras and had a cute hit in 09.

If it's based on quality then Glitter and Charmbracelet easily outdo Rainbow. lana3

Obviously she's not a nobody, but you literally put her in the same breath as Britney, Katy and Rihanna.

She is not close to sitting at that table.

AOTY winning album Fearless says otherwise. Most faves on here can't relate. ny2

I'll give her 2008-now on the basis that we pretend the album between Fearless and Red doesn't exist. ny2

You mean the album that sold 1M copies in the first week? tina1 Moo and her heavily payola'ed ex-label could never.

Her debut album is 7x Platinum, Fearless was the best selling album of 2009 in the US, is certified Diamond and won AOTY, Speak Now opened with 1M+ sales and is 6x Platinum and Love Story & You Belong With Me were both huge and iconic smashes .. you should've just sat there and ate your food giphy.gif

You Belong With Me wasn't that big outside North America and Oceania.

What's quality got to do with anything? Either way that's subjective. Glitter wasn't an utter flop either, it did have the best selling single of the year and landed her a #2 single. If you're counting beyond Madonna's lows for her time "lasting" in the industry keep that same energy with Mariah ny12

Yes but if they were to cut it off at 2001, then that would exclude Emancipation of Mimi which is one of her most successful albums. That’d be like us stopping Madge’s run at 2003 because AL flopped while totally ignoring the resurgence of Confessions. The cut off would need to be the last successful era they had and for Mariah that’d be Emancipation.

And low-key even E=MC2 was successful in it's own way with the #1 it spawned. That technically makes it more successful than other veteran pop girl albums that year like X, Discipline and arguably Hard Candy

Katy 2008-2017

Xtina 1999-2010

Demi 2011-2021 (the newest to join the flop club)

Botney 1998-2011

Rihanna? 2005-2016

why do pop girls tend to flop after a decade? radio stops playing them etc ari4

PS. ariana will turn 10 in 2 years brit15

Demi hasn't really been anything her whole career, meanwhile Rihanna can't have flopped if she hasn't released anything for 5 years missj1

Interest concept though, the only big exception is Madonna from 1983-2008.

Those were flops but she made a huge comeback and had two more successful eras after. By this logic we could say Madonna lasted for only 10 years cuz of Erotica and Bedtime Stories

I agree with you on the first sentence, but Erotica and BS were a hell of a lot more successful than Glitter and Charmbracelet missj1

She has like 3-5 moderate hits at best. No one is checking for Semi Retired.
