Why did "positions" fail to make its mark?

Whut? A LOT OF YEARS?

Positions was released like just a year and a half ago.

Well it feels like it's been 19 years since its release, considering that the entire thing sounds like it came from 2003. xtina5

Yall saying Pissitions was the same as Thank u legend need to get your ears checked. TUN was more varied in sound and styles compared to Pissitions where every song sounded nearly the same and was lacking proper hooks. It was too cohesive and that usually makes albums pretty forgettable in the long song because the songs don't manage to stand out individually.

You're bringing up Taylor for no reason and comparing an era to two singles ?

Please read the rules for this section and come back... or don't!

Posting Rules

8. The FOTP Faves sections, Spotlight sections, K-Pop section and the Other Music section are for members to discuss the music and the artists freely and maturely without having to fend off someone breathing down their neck. Remember that a personal opinion is fine, but constant or over-the-top negativity, flame-baiting or trolling is not. Light, on-topic shade related to the posted story is acceptable in the Celebrity News & Discussion section. If you want to shade an artist, post a troll thread, or bash artists without limitation, please make use of Battlegrounds (which will be unlocked for posting once you have reached 25 posts).

This section IS the stan twitter equivalent. If we feel like dragging Toilet Swiffer into this thread, we can do that. If you don't like it, revoke your access. It's as simple as that.

Made more of a mark than cardigan and willow that's for sure

Comparing an album to singles? Singles from albums that outsold and currently are out charting Positions on literally every country? that are actually acclaimed? (including AOTY win). Keeping in mind Positions had 3 singles, a high profile remix for one of those singles and a re-release, both folklore and evermore had 1 single each with no re-release.

THAT is actually not the case lol. Taylor is quite local.

Besides, Positions had two singles and no actual remixes commissioned for any of them. The 34+35 "remix" was the same with just two features tacked on it. Folklore had several bundles, multiple editions and the singles actually received proper remixes and alternate versions.

That's a long debunked myth. Taylor has sold more units (by a large margin) in North America, Asia, Oceania and both UK and Ireland, pretty sure she's comfortably bigger in Germany too. Taylor is constantly out streaming her in Latin America too. Neither are making much noise in mainland Europe, but it seems the only countries Ariana is bigger are... Italy and France. Taylor being the biggest female artist of the century in US, and not having said title in the rest of the world, doesn't make her "local".

Positions barely outdid evermore and is never touching folklore, especially when both folklore and evermore have better recurrent stats.

If Taylor is "local", Ariana is a never been.

I don't care. Folklore's and Evermore's two singles still tanked and both stayed on the hot 100 less weeks than ONE Positions single stayed in the top 10.

Long debunked? Please provide the receipts. Her singles tanked in the US and outside of NA, she has barely had any notable hit singles.

Isn't Taylor the biggest foreign female artist in India

He thinks she's local because she's only had two hits in Germany. xtina5

because it's just not memorable & too lazy for an ariana album, she's feeling too comfortable with the trap sound which makes the music feel cheap!

It says in the article what the stats are based on sis. And according to this article http://www.mideastmedia.org/survey/2014/music/western-music.html about half of Middle Eastern people listen to Wes

Because it wasn't an experimental cultural reset like Lotus.
