Is Glory overrated?

Recommended Posts

Whenever I see fans talk about it they usually rank it up there with ITZ and Blackout dead2 Honestly it’s one of my least favorite Britney albums and most of the songs have no replay value, even as a stan I have no interest in ever listening to this album and I barely did when it was new either. It has some of the worst songs of her career (Private Show, Clumsy, What You Need).. There are some good songs, but it’s not something I’d choose to listen to. I think even Britney Jean has stronger songs, which is saying something.. This album is extremely overrated by fans! jj4

Putting anything under Britney Jean girl...

I quite honestly enjoy more songs on BJ and have listened to them more than any Glory song dead2 Still a messy ass album, but with some replay value at least.

Please brit10  For one, idk what is people’s problem with Private Show lol I must be the only person on the planet who likes it.

And second to compare the album to BJ brit10  I pretend Jean doesn’t exist and Glory is miles better

BJ is a worse album of course, but the strong songs on it are way better than the strong songs on Glory. The rest is just filler/trash on both albums

It is. It and Blackout are her most overrated albums period. Glory isn't bad, but it's got really high highs and the songs that aren't the highs are about the middle of the pack for me. It's better than Britney Jean, Circus, and BOMT, but not better than all the rest.

I don't think it's overrated. It's rated fairly among fans and gp alike. It's seen as Britney's brief renaissance (oop!) moment and looked at fondly for that reason alone. I mean, after coming down from Femme Fatale and Britney Jean, it was a refreshing take on Britney's musicality. No longer was she a robot, people used to say. After Britney Jean, specifically, of course it's regarded as Jesus compared to Jean's Judas. Perhaps it feels "overrated" right now because she hasn't released any new material since 2016, 17? Swimming In the Stars and the likes of it was a part of Glory sorta rerelease, so they're not new new.

@Kristina not this ari7

Glory is still top tier Britney for me in 2022. It has some tracks that haven't aged as well but so do ITZ and others.

Like other have stated, it was Britney's renaissance after being put on auto pilot by producers for Femme Fatale and especially Britney Jean.

And while I don't hate either of those albums they're lacking the Britney's personality and it factor, you can tell she enjoyed recording Glory.

Glory didn't necessarily take big risks in production for the time and there are moments that sound like Britney following trends more than setting them.

However, the writing on the album and the moody atmosphere of it all feels like an earned progression as an artist. The album had more potential hits but it never sounds like it was chasing a number 1. That's an easy description of FF and probably was probably the initial drive behind BJ as well once the redirection started.

We got to hear Britney's VOICE without a team of producers over working rough vocal takes and drowning them in with multiple backing vocalists. She sang in different languages and we even got an entire song in French! It has some less successful tracks, the vocal production on Private Show makes it a track I often skip. I also believe the deluxe edition is the best way to listen to the album. Liar, Change Your Mind, and Mood Ring deserved to be standard tracks for sure. But her laughs sound genuine and so do her emotional moments. It's a mature Britney album and one we can identify her finger prints on.

I can understand some people disliking it for personal taste or saying it's overrated, but it's a solid album as a standalone or in comparison with her discography.

OMG THIS. It's never appealed to me either, she was glowing that era but the project as a whole gave "summer hits compilation" energy. Def some bops but I rarely go back to it.dead7
