Diane Warren is being shady

She lowkey has a point bebe1

She would....if she was talking about a different song off a different project.

Alien Superstar is the song she's talking about as it has 24 credited writers, because of sampling. When you sample, you have to credit the rights holders of the sampled songs + whoever worked on the current songs. Renaissance is a heavy sample album because as i'm sure you know, sampling is a very integral part of the house music/ballroom scene. Alien Superstar has samples 4 different tracks, all of which had multiple writers and producers that needed to legally be credited. With that many samples, it really added up.

Now had this been a song devoid of samples, then yes absolutely she'd sort of have a point. Although she is not really one to talk considering she's built a career out of being a member of writing camps but she would have something to say if it was all original work.

Tired of this notion that the most credible things happen in isolation.

Music is all about collaboration, and black music in particular is huge on that as well as the art of sampling.

The fact that she had to question it at all is kind of ridiculous.

Diane is just mad she wasn’t invited to be part of the best reviewed album of the year, and Beyoncé’s career.

Not related to Renaissance specifically but Critic reviews are kinda irrelevant, a lot of them virtue signal to a specific agenda/narrative and the user reviews are just stan spam.

Sure, everything is irrelevant to some degree, considering music is extremely subjective. Regardless, the universal appeal of her latest release is hard to miss.

Yeah I guess, it's just it would've been rated highly regardless on Metacritic, they're not going to give a new Beyonce release a poor score. I don't really think you get a true idea of an albums positioning in an artists discography until time has passed and trends have moved on.
