1. Cher – Believe: MY FAVE SONG EVER. I love this song so much. Even though it’s kind of a….sad song? It really makes me so happy every time I listen to this. It’s just so iconic. I love Cher so so so so so so much and I’m so glad she’s on this list. My absolute #1 by far.

2. Mariah Carey – We Belong Together: Am I being biased when I put this song on #2 just because I’m a lamb? ABSOLUTELY and I love it. This song is just perfection. The songwriting Mimi is credited for really shines through on this song and I really feel like this is her big come back song. I love this song with my whole heart and I love Mariah.

3. Madonna – Like A Prayer: Do I need to say anything else? This song is so extremely iconic. It’s just a blueprint for so many pop songs, it’s controversial, Madonna truly said “let me shock the world especially America” with this one.

4. Gwen Stefani – Hollaback Girl: BAD BITCH ANTHEM OF THE CENTURIES. THIS SONG IS SO MOTHERFUCKING GOOD. THIS IS 00’S MUSIC AT IT’S FINIEST. You can’t do ANYTHING but to scream these lyrics when this comes on. This still gets played so many times at clubs in the Netherlands. Ugh, I love this song.

5. Avril Lavigne – Girlfriend : WHO ALLOWED SO MANY POP PERFECTION SONGS TO BE ON THIS PLAYLIST? This is also fucking iconic, yes I know it’s getting repetitive, but I have nothing else to say about these songs. #KylieBOPS

6. Nelly ft. Kelly Rowland – Dilemma: YES YES YES YES YES! I’m so incredibly glad this song is included on this list, this is probably one of my favoriete songs from the 00’s. This song makes me happy, it’s such a cute r ‘n b song and I’m so glad Kelly is on it, instead of Beyoncé. This was truly her moment to shine. We also stan that cute little Patti Labelle sample yes.

7. Ciara – Goodies: You literally can’t sit still when this song comes on. It’s such a shame Ciara is so forgotten now, because she truly had the potential to become one of the biggest r ‘n b super stars on this world. This song is so incredibly good and makes me feel like the baddest bitch.

8. Rihanna ft. Jay – Z – Umbrella: Arguably Rihanna’s biggest hit ever? This song is just amazing, it’s fun and isn’t this the era where she really took a bit of control on her music career? Anyway, it’s a fun bop!

9. Leona Lewis – Bleeding Love: It’s such a shame we don’t hear of this queen anymore, because this song is so incredibly gorgeous. Even in 2022 it sounds fresh and nice. I remember being 12 and heartbroken and listening to this song over and over again and even feel bad for the people in the original video clip lol.

10. Madonna – Live To Tell: This song sounds straight out the 80’s and I absolutely stan for that. Even though the song is a bit long for my taste, especially the intro, it’s a cute bop and I can understand why Little Medonsters hype this up so much. The last 2 minutes are so insanely good omfg.

11. Aaliyah – Try Again: Adore this song!

12. Nelly Furtado – Say It Right: O my God, I forgot about this song almost entirely. This song was so huge, it was everywhere back in the days. Is this also the song with Nelly on that huge skyscraper looking absolutely flawfree? Well the song is at least. I love this a lot.

13. Monica & Brandy – The Boy Is Mine: The blueprint for a lot of later R&B songs in my opinion. Absolutely love this song, nothing negative to say about this.

14. The Weeknd – Blinding Lights: My husband Abel really did THAT with this single. Changed the game to 80’s pop. I feel like the hype for this song is still not over yet, or did we move on from this song? Anyway, this sounds fresh and sound and this is a fucking masterpiece.

15. Katy Perry – Teenage Dream: Oh, this song brings back so many memories. It’s such a cute pop bop. The lyrics in this song are top notch, the production sounds so good. For me, this song is top Katy Perry. Let me bop a little while.

16. Harry Styles – As It Was: I think we all know this song has potential to become as iconic as a lot of the songs on this list, I just don’t feel like it’s “there” yet. That’s why it’s not higher on the list for me, because I don’t feel like it surpassed the legacy of a lot of these songs on this list. But it’s an amazing bop and Harry is doing his absolute best to become an pop icon, if he isn’t one already.

17. Monica – The First Night: I didn’t know this song, it was probably not so big in the Netherlands. I think it’s okay. It’s obviously a r & b song since Monica is a r ‘n b singer, but I feel like the ones we heard on this list were just bigger songs. I don’t think this is bad, just average to the songs we have heard before this.

18. Miley Cyrus – Wrecking Ball: Yeah, this song was fun for the memes back in like…2013/2014 I thought it was? But in 2022 this song just sounds boring and bland for me. Miley has way and way better songs then this mess. I don’t understand the people allowed to become this #1, but nothing from Plastic Hearts. Such a tragedy.

19. Fleetwood Mac – Dreams: I never thought that I would know a Fleetwood Mac song, but I actually do recognize this one. It’s cute, but nothing special. I don’t understand why people are such huge fans of Fleetwood Mac. Like with this song, it’s iconic, but there’s no highlight in this song. It’s good that this is a remaster though, because otherwise, this would sound like straight out the 70’s.

20. Melanie – Brand New Key: Nope, this is absolutely not for me. I think her voice is annoying, it’s too much of a clown song for me. No, I don’t really like this. Tbh, I didn’t finish this song, because….nope. This doesn’t mean this is a bad song though, it’s just not for me. What are these lyrics though?

21. Shakira ft. Wyclef Jean – Hips Don’t Lie: Except for Mario Spears, I don’t believe there are Shakira fans on this world. And I understand why. Her voice is so annoying, it’s just like….no. I never liked this song and I will never like this song, it’s an overhyped mess. Maybe she can teach the other prisoners the choreo though!

22. Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe: Curse the person who put this on this list. Just a big, fat: NO.

  • My favorite song of all time
  • Brilliant is an understatement
  • A floorfiller for the ages
  • A timeless song that's aged like fine wine
  • A PERFECT comeback single
  • Ahead of its time and perfection
  • One of the most emotionally impactful songs I've ever heard
  • Love it or hate it, you can't get it out of your head
  • A catchy song with a beautiful message
  • The most nostalgic song here for me, loved it then and I love it now
  • A sexy and impactful track. One of the best of the '90s
  • Timbaland strikes again with another classic
  • An awesome song that's both relatable and melodic
  • One of the most fun songs ever
  • She has many songs better than this, but I can't deny the goofy charm of this song
  • A lot of fun, but I need to be in the mood for it
  • Good song, great vocal, overplayed
  • A fine song, just not as good as others here
  • Okay, but not the song of hers that should've topped the charts
  • A fun song to hear on a night out, not one I go out of my way for
  • This one can stay in the past
  • Okay song, wrong singer doing it
  • Not a bad song, but so overplayed that I could gladly go the rest of my life without ever hearing it again

Madonna - Live To Tell: Very boring song. I don't know why this got to #1. It's probably her most forgettable hit.

Fleetwood Mac - Dreams: It's not for me. I don't really like 70s folk. Nothing special

Katy Perry  - Teenage Dream: A cute fun song. Katy really manages to express the teenage feeling of a first love. It was fun to listen to.

Shakira - Hips Don't Lie: A classic. One of the most important songs for latin pop. That breakdown towards the bridge with the trumpets is perfection.

Melanie - Brand New Key: Same as the Fleetwood Mac song. Plus it was also very short so really forgettable.

Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl: This is a bit cringe but it's alright I guess.

Brandy & Monica - The Boy Is Mine: One of the most important songs in R&B history. It's so smooth, I can never get enough of it. I miss songs like this from the late 90s.

Nelly Furtado -  Say It Right: The production was innovative for its time but it has aged a bit. Like you can tell from which period it is, unlike something Timbaland produced for Aaliyah for example.

Harry Styles - As It Was: Not a huge fan of this song. I can listen to it but I still think it's an attempt to recreate Blinding Lights.

Nelly - Dilemma: Good song, but a bit repetitive and goes on for too long.

Monica - The First Night: Fun song, Monica's vocals and attitude sell this song. The chorus is addictive.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe: Well...it's a song. The type of bubblegum/sugary pop that is made for radio which I don't like. That era of music was a test from God.

Madonna -  Like A Prayer: Great song but by now a bit overplayed so its uniqueness wore off.

Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball: Another song from the early 2010s...Miley's voice sounds annoying here.

Cher - Believe: Could be better. It's missing something from truly being one of the best electronic/dance song of all time.

Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend: I had SO much fun listening to this song my god. Really bratty but Avril makes it work. I loved it ever since I was a little.

Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love: Suprisingly, I liked this one. Very safe song but it's done well.

The Weeknd - Blinding Lights: A modern classic. One of the best song this century. It does the throwback sound without sounding gimmicky or like it's following a trend.

Rihanna - Umbrella: The combo of Rihanna and Jay is perfect. I loved her vocals on this and the song holds up.

Mariah Carey - We Belong Together: I'm gonna be honest, I was never really a big fan of this one. It's one of the best performing songs of her career but for me it's really boring R&B and it kills me that the lambs like this one so much. TEOM album had so many other good songs that deserved this song's treatment.

Ciara - Goodies: A BANGER that makes me wanna get up and bust a move everytime. You can't go wrong with this one.

Aaliyah - Try Again: One of my favourite songs ever. The production is so unique and otherworldly, it's doesn't seem from this world. Her vocals and the production come together so nicely that it makes me think I'm in another dimension when I listen to it.

Madonna - Vogue: Out of the 3 Madonna songs this round, this is the best one. A house/dance classic.

Sent in my rankings gaga3

Spoiler

Madonna - Live To Tell : Papa Don't Preach and Open Your Heart were right there, why did you pick this one?

Fleetwood Mac - Dreams: I have tried to like Fleetwood Mac and this song so many times since I've really been on a 70s kick this year... but I always am unable to find them the "legends" they're considered to be.

Katy Perry  - Teenage Dream: I get the appeal for this song but it's the most boring #1 from that album imo.

Shakira - Hips Don't Lie: It's crazy how replayable this song is. Shakira and her team created pop perfection with this track. It's impossible to not sing along to.

Melanie - Brand New Key: I've never heard of this song before and I enjoyed it. Definitely a unique entry on this list and stands out the most imo.

Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl: An absolute classic I adore Gwen so much. That being said it's a shame this is her one song that topped the charts.

Brandy & Monica - The Boy Is Mine: An R&B staple on the industry. Top 3 songs from the 90s R&B era, it's truly unmatched. Best female collaboration I dare say.

Nelly Furtado -  Say It Right: I have the same thoughts on this as I do Katy's Teenage Dream

Harry Styles - As It Was: mid

Nelly - Dilemma: A cute 2000s nostalgia track, a very solid choice.

Monica - The First Night: I wasn't feeling it tbh. Tried it a few times to see if it was a grower but unfortunately it was not.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe: Go girl give us nothing

Madonna -  Like A Prayer: A super strong choice and an absolute classic. It gets better every single time I listen to it. One of her best.

Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball: I can't recall if this is Miley's only #1 single but if it is then that's unfortunate...

Cher - Believe: Invented autotune. A gay classic. Got me dancing and crying at the same time.

Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend: Hey hey, you you please skip this song song zzz1

Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love: No one, no one, no one, Can get in the way of what I'm feeling. No one, no one, no one, Can get in the way of what I feel for you.

The Weeknd - Blinding Lights: It's the best performing single of all time for a reason. A classic, will be remembered fondly a long time from now.

Rihanna - Umbrella: There's a reason this song launched Rihanna's career to new heights. Pop perfection.

Mariah Carey - We Belong Together: 'Cause the loving ain't the same and you keep on playing games like you know I'm here to stay. (I gotta shake, shake you off). Just like the Calgon commercial, I really gotta get up outta here and go somewhere. (I gotta shake you off). Gotta make that move, find somebody who appreciates all the love I give. Boy, I gotta (shake, shake you off). Gotta do what's best for me, baby, and that means I gotta (Shake you off).

Ciara - Goodies: A classic, Ciara really made musical genius with this album. It's sad a bunch of other singles from it all ended up at like #2.

Aaliyah - Try Again: R.I.P. Aaliyah, every song she touched turned to gold. An absolute classic and one of my favorite #1s from the 2000s.

Madonna - Vogue: A very solid choice, one of Madonna's better #1 singles.

I feel like commenting will probably reveal some of my rankings but whatever I guess

Madonna - Live To Tell: One of the few songs on this list I hadn't heard before and I didn't really like it, it was kind of bland.

Fleetwood Mac - Dreams: Sorry but no, this song was boring, not my cup of tea at all. But kudos for making a more "risky" choice in this round I guess.

Katy Perry  - Teenage Dream: Love this song. It's so cute and brings back memories.

Shakira - Hips Don't Lie: A bop! Don't really have much to say, but it's a timeless classic

Melanie - Brand New Key: Couldn't like it if I tried. But kudos again for going with something risky.

Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl: This song will never get old or sound dated to me, such a classic bop that will never not make me sing along or dance.

Brandy & Monica - The Boy Is Mine: A R&B classic.

Nelly Furtado -  Say It Right: Ugh I love Nelly Furtado and every single from the Maneater album is a classic, this one too. Love it so much.

Harry Styles - As It Was: A future classic! Honestly the best song released this year. Super catchy and gorgeous song

Nelly - Dilemma: I don't really care for Nelly but I remember buying this album for this song alone. Probably one of the songs on this list I've listened to the most, and that's for Kelly's part alone. I remember being a kid and pretending to be her performing this rip4 A CLASSIC.

Monica - The First Night: A very mid R&B track that kind of bored me tbh.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe: Can't really deny that this was a big hit that won't be forgotten anytime soon, it's really cute, but it's so overplayed I can't listen to it anymore.

Madonna -  Like A Prayer: I know it's iconic and all but I just don't care for it or get the hype.

Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball: LOVE this song, it's iconic and beautiful and the entire Bangerz album is a masterpiece.

Cher - Believe: I'd rather listen to this than any of the Madonna songs and this one is actually catchy, but her voice ruins it for me personally

Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend: Such a fun and catchy bop, impossible to not sing along to the chorus.

Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love: I had no idea this hit #1 tbh, but I was glad to find out it did. An amazing song and kind of underrated compared to almost all of the songs on this list.

The Weeknd - Blinding Lights: It's a good song and all, but in the company of these songs it seems kind of boring and something that won't be remembered.

Rihanna - Umbrella: A classic yup!! Honestly sounds like it could have been released today or at anytime, it doesn't sound dated. Rihanna's staple hit.

Mariah Carey - We Belong Together: One of the few Mariah songs I actually like. It's cute.

Ciara - Goodies: You can't go wrong with a Ciara single, especially this one. Idk how many times I've said "classic", but I'll say it again. An absolute classic bop.

Aaliyah - Try Again: I love this song so much and it will never get old to me. I've listened to this since I was in elementary school because my big sister was an Aaliyah stan and would listen to this non stop. Still sounds fresh to this day.

Madonna - Vogue: Again, I know it's iconic, but I just don't get it.
