Oscar Winners 2023: See the Full List Here | Vanity Fair

Everything Everywhere All at Once has officially clinched seven awards at the Oscars 2023, in this multiverse, anyway—achieving an old-fashioned sweep of most of the night’s marquee prizes.

The film’s total haul included best picture, director (well, directors—Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), actress (Michelle Yeoh), supporting actor (Ke Huy Quan), supporting actress (Jamie Lee Curtis), screenplay (Kwan and Scheinert again), and editing (Paul Rogers). Not since 2009, when Slumdog Millionaire won eight total awards, has a single movie so dominated at the Oscars.

Everything Everywhere’s wins were a landmark in Asian representation at the Oscars as well: Yeoh became the first self-identified Asian woman to win best actress, and just the second woman of color to ever win the award in the award show's 95-year history. “For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities. This is proof that dreams do come true,” Yeoh said in her acceptance speech, receiving cheers in response. “And ladies, don’t let anyone tell you that you are past your prime.”

The Everything Everywhere crew weren’t the only folks who had a good night. The crowd also got revved up for best actor winner Brendan Fraser, who came back into the spotlight in a big way after years on Hollywood’s periphery. “I’m grateful to Darren Aronofsky for throwing me a creative lifeline and hauling me aboard the good ship The Whale,” he said in another of the night's emotional speeches.

I know a lot of people are salty over Angela Bassett, but it’s Jamie Lee Curtis, I ain’t even mad. She was great in EEAO, I personally think that it was really well deserved.

I would’ve burned the academy to the ground if Michelle Yeoh had lost.
