Virgin's 2011 Pop Queens = FLOP.

10. Jessie J

Having scooped the Critics' Choice at this years Brit's, Jessie J could be a contender were it not for the lingering suspicion that her hype rather outweighs her talent.

9. Florence Welch

When Florence + The Machine's debut album Lungs appeared two years ago, their flame-haired singer was ubiquitous and appeared set to dominate the music world. But with no sign of a follow-up two years down the line, it's time for Flo to pull her finger out to have any chance of ruling the pop world.

8. Ke$ha

kesha-590x350.jpg

The controversy-courting Ke$ha has enjoyed prodigious success in her native US, where her rambunctious debut album Animal went to number one. Yet her possible ascent to pop royalty is likely to be hindered by the widespread perception that she is essentially a Primark take on Lady Gaga.

7. Nicki Minaj

nicki-minaj-590x350.jpg

Larger-than-life R&B bad girl Nicki Minaj exploded into view last year when her debut album Pink Friday topped the chart in the US. Yet it stalled over here at No 32, largely because it was not nearly as good as Ms. Minaj claimed it was.

6. Cheryl Cole

winners-losers-2010-cheryl-cole-590x350.jpg

The X Factor may have turned Cheryl Cole into Middle England's sweetheart, but her voice remains valiant rather than virtuoso and the fact that she writes hardly any of her own material means there remains a hint of the pop puppet about Wor Churyl.

5. Leona Lewis

what-music-has-taught-us-leona-lewis-590x350.jpg

She looks great and she has conquered the world post-X Factor but Leona Lewis has limitations. Her first album, Spirit, on which she had no writing credits, sold seven million copies. Its follow-up, Echo, which she wrote half of, sold less than half as many. Plus, to be frank, isn't she a bit boring to be a queen?

4. Rihanna

sexiest-rihanna-590x350.jpg

When Rihanna wrote most of Rated R and it topped charts all around the globe three years ago, she looked a shoo-in to rule the pop world. Yet she wrote no songs at all on its follow-up, Loud, and her recent US arena tour failed to sell out. Must try harder.

3. Adele

press-adele-590x350.jpg

With her 21 album spending a record-breaking 11 weeks at number one in Britain as well as topping the charts in America, there is no stopping Adele Adkins. We hesitate to crown her the queen of pop, though, because her gor-blimey, girl-next-door demeanour is about as far from majestic as you can get.

2. Kunty Perry

With an album, Teenage Dream, that topped the chart on both sides of the Atlantic, an A-list actor husband and a fantastic live show, California girl Katy Perry could expect to be crowned the queen of pop in almost any other era. Yet she must remain a mere courtier as there is one more, far stronger candidate…

1. Lady Gaga

winners-losers-2010-lady-gaga-590x350.jpg

Well, who else would it be? With her insanely infectious chart-topping anthems, flamboyant glamtastic dress sense and taboo-shaking air of real danger, the woman christened Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta easily trumps all her current female rivals. Not since the early days of Madonna has one woman been so effortlessly dominant: Lady Gaga may not be the most naturally talented diva extant but she is, beyond question, 2011's queen of pop.

I know this is a bit of a flop list but Gaga's number 1 so it don't really matter, it's an interesting read
