Is Taylor Swift deserving of the Princess of Pop title?

Quote

Now 17 years into her career, the stature of Taylor Swift continues to grow. She is one of the most powerful women on Earth and is the 4th most successful female artist of all-time. In 2023, her fame has grown to a such a height where Billie Joel himself compared it to 60s Beatlemania after attending a show on the record breaking Eras Tour.

via the otherwise reliable sales and numbers tracking site ChartMasters.

Taylor Swift is on par with many of her predecessors, ranking as the fourth female artist of all-time in sales alone, where she gloats an astonishing number of over 159M sales.

Notably, she has been crowned a princess of pop by none other than the renowned Queen of Pop herself, Madonna, in 2015, before, with Madonna calling herself a frequent listener and someone who indulges in her works.

Though they have starkingly different images, as well, I believe that now more than ever Taylor is at her peak, spawning billions of dollars in revenue from a worldwide tour, shattering and setting records alike, and garnering countless sales along the way.

Taylor is essentially a global phenomena, and not a day goes by that, Swiftie or not, you hear or see about either her philanthropic efforts, skyrocketing sales, constant record-breaking career, consistent business moves, and music in some shape, way, or form. She is so populous that she's inescapable, and if you call this a result to her dedicated fanbase, that is only another testament to her influence and longevity.

Swift is, by all means, a multifaceted generational talent, and deserves to be put in the same stratosphere as Elvis, Michael Jackson, and Madonna. She is a trailblazer in her own right; when not shattering records she maintains a Reputation for setting her own that even previous superstars haven't seen. Her cultural impact and solidification as a monocultural figure in the music industry and beyond are key points as to why there will also never be a successful replication of her work and acquirement.
