Britney Spears says previous statement about Halsey's "Lucky" video was not posted by her and that she loves Halsey

Britney Spears and Halsey are proving that there's no bad blood between them after Halsey's new "Lucky" video was released on Friday, July 26.

Hours after the video was released, Spears, 42, posted about it on X (formerly Twitter), but she quickly deleted the message.

"For obvious reasons I'm very upset about the Halsey video," Spears wrote in the since-deleted post. "I feel harassed, violated, and bullied. I didn't know an artist like her and someone I looked up to and admired would illustrate me in such an ignorant way by tailoring me as a superficial pop star with no heart or concern at all."

"I have my own health problems which is why I took down my IG account yesterday. I will definitely be putting it back up to show I CARE," the post continued. "I'm speaking with my lawyers today to see what can be done on this matter. It feels illegal and down right cruel."

Shortly after deleting the post, Spears said that her previous critique of Halsey's music video had been "fake news" and claimed that "that was not me on my phone."

I think it's likely if Britney did talk to Halsey directly it was just about the song not the video. Britney likely knows little about Halsey's life so the fact that the video has similarities to Britney's own life probably made her feel like she'd been parodied or used (similar to Cry Me a River). My guess is Cade or whoever else has access to her socials removed it as soon as they could but not soon enough. They explained it to Britney and they decided on the usual celeb retraction post of "it wasn't me".

 

Overall it hurts Britney's credibility, but it's not new that she posts something spicy and then someone alters or deletes the post.
