As with previous albums releases, Kylie does a press tour. As she is out to promote Tension ♊️ (KM17), she is being a bit more open on what fans can expect, next. While in Singapore, Kylie sat down with New Music Express (NME) and gave some insight on her next album, KM18 - her 5th with BMG.

Minogue, however, teased that the album after ‘Tension II’ will be a “fresh start” for her. It’s one that might see the singer move in the direction of her much-maligned 1997 record ‘Impossible Princess’, which saw a commercial resurgence earlier this decade when it was released on vinyl for the first time in 2022.

“I feel like it’ll be time for something – maybe not as singular as [‘Impossible Princess’] – but to bring some of that back in,” Minogue told NME, revealing that she “already had a few songwriting days in the studio with my closest [collaborators] for whatever’s to come”.

“I’m not sure how much of [what I’m working on] is because [of] where my output has been of late. We’ve been pretty solid on ‘What’s the hit, what’s the hit, what’s the hit’,” she said. “So, it’s some of that slightly meatier kind of the other stuff that I’m really drawn to.”

I’m actually quite excited that she will move into a new musical direction that inspires her. As much as I love all these dance bops since DISCO - I really don’t know if she is. I think KM94, IP and Golden are her favourite recording projects.

KM94 being her favorite makes me laugh when she only sings two songs from it. I need her to sing Automatic Love and Surrender, maybe even At The End of The Day or Where is the Feeling.

 

Golden may have the best writing but the country production was never my cup of tea. I did like the leaked songs especially Rewind.

KM94 allowed her to be experimental and where she started working with Steve Anderson who is still a huge influence on her today. I too am surprised that Automatic Love is never sung considering she co-wrote it. In the end, she just sings the hits.

I can see it now because her tour is doing well in America. I kind of want her to do an album that sounds a lot like The One. All The Lovers, I Believe in You and Crystallize. Something very euphoric and not padering to the tiktok generation. Oh and longer tracks.

Kylie does euphoric well. It’s a whole category that she could dominate. I still love that she is interested in revisiting old sounds for the next album…I think fans need a break from Dance Pop for a bit. Now, the longer songs won’t happen until TikTok gets banned.

Even the extended mixes don't really feel like extended mixes anymore.
