CRJ is no longer part of Interscope Label Roster

I knew something like this was inevitable. With CRJ signed to Schoolboy Records in the US which had distribution with Universal Music (Interscope is part of UMG) and when Scooter Braun (who co-owned Schoolboy Records through his management company, SB Projects which is part of the holding company, Ithaca Holdings) announced he was retiring from Artist Management, I think he folded Schoolboy Records into HYBE America. Just a lot of moving parts…
 

Now, whether CRJ is now with HYBE America or one of their labels like Big Machine Records or whether she is negotiating with HYBE America to create her own record label with them, nobody knows…currently Schoolboy Records website links to Republic Records (another UMG Imprint) - so she could now be with them.

But it looks like her contract with Schoolboy/Interscope is over. 

She is still signed with 604 Records in Canada and they hold all her masters, so she and her music is safe. The only question we have as fans is what is her direction beyond Canada? 
 

This pause could also be why we have not had any release information for CRJ8. I would now expect it to be 2025.

Following a CEO switch-up last week, Korean music giant HYBE has revealed the components of its "HYBE 2.0" strategy under new leader Jason Jaesang Lee.

Underway since early 2024, HYBE 2.0 will reorganize the company into music, platform and tech-driven growth silos. Many of the new initiatives will involve Weverse, HYBE's super-fan platform.

Beyond that, the company has formed HYBE Music Group APAC to boost its labels in South Korea and Japan and export their products worldwide. BIGHIT MUSIC President Young Jae Shin, who's helped BTS and TOMORROW X TOGETHER become global stars, will serve as president.

As part of a "multi-home, multi-genre" strategy already in place in Japan, the U.S. and Latin America, the Scooter Braun-led HYBE America will launch a management arm based on "a growing demand for change in the traditional business structure in the U.S. market due to its fragmentation, complex contractual relationships and simplified care for individual artists at larger labels."*

HYBE America has also signed American group KATSEYE through its JV with Geffen, while HYBE Japan is signing acts under new chairman Youngmin Kim. The Latin American division is expected to roll out next year.

In addition, Weverse will create a subscription tier by Q4 for all artists on the platform, offering fan-club features, digital currency, ad-free video and offline storage for on-demand content.

*whether any former SB Projects & School Boy Records roster artists have been moved over to this new HYBE 2.0 Management Platform remains to be seen.

The HYBE 2.0 reorganization is complete and School Boy Records is not one of their Labels. Big Machine Label Group is there. Also, Scooter Braun Projects is there as a platform but CRJ left SB Projects Management in 2016 after EMOTION. So, it looks like CRJ is Labeless (except in Canada).
