This made me think hard. 

For the newer generation, I think Jojo was the one who really worked extra hard, filing lawsuits after lawsuits and she didn't even get any coins from her old label and only got her freedom which is what she desperately wanted. She's faced some tough times being hindered to release music for ten years because of her stupid label. There's a "Documentary" online about it and it honestly made me stan her even more.

She did at the earlier part of her career but she chose to take time to live life and not get burned out and to also reinvent herself (Madonna and ha impact) and her sound. As far as commercial viability is concerned, the GP just moved on from her because she chose not to churn out music constantly which made her visibility somewhat faded, and of course her rumored diva-esque and bitchy attitude didn't help her either (Although I looove Bitchtina. especially when she threw her gum towards fans at one point). I think the first week Liberation album sales were from the solid fan base that grew up with her or grew up listening to her (which is why it plummeted acutely after a week. {bi-on-ic and Lotus's impact ha!)

In the music industry itself, Gaga, Madonna, Mariah, Britney Beyoncé, Taylor and Katy work very hard. They are constantly reinventing themselves and their stages, songwriting skills and productions are just amazing
