thanks bud! hope all is good. thin didn't make the cut but i do have one more Jonna song to post.

did you listen to Mary's new album?

oh. :( I think 'thin' is my favourite song of the year.

Mary as in Mary J. Blige? if so, I intended to, but I thought her AMA performance was atrocious and pretty much lost any interest of hearing the album at that point. I'll probably check it out on Spotify later today if it's worth a listen.

;) yea i'm talking about her. i remember you being a fan of hers but i might be wrong, it's been a while since you've been around here. :P

the album is really good, it's some good old R&B mixed with some well produced Disclosure tracks. just skip Therapy if you're not into it, it's the album opener anyway. dead1

I'll for sure listen to it then if you recommend it. I was into her in my teens, but semi-lost interest in recent years. 'What's the 411?' is still one of the best R&B albums in history to this day, imo.

have you listened to SOHN's album, Tremors? it seems like it would be right up your alley.

JoJo – Take Me Home

Album: #LoveJo

JoJo captured my attention in 2010 with her excellent mixtape "Can't Take That Away From Me". I had no idea that at the time she had been struggling for 3 years to get out of her contract with Blackground and that she would have to wait for another 4 to finally get released.

The beginning of 2014 saw JoJo signing with Atlantic Records and relentlessly work on her 3rd studio album. To give her fans a taste of what's to come, she released #LoveJo for free, a four track EP of covers. Phil Collins' Take Me Home shines the brightest, with JoJo giving it a complete turnover and her vocals are absolutely stunning. Must listen.

I'm an ordinary man.

Jhene Aiko – W.A.Y.S.

Album: Souled Out

W.A.Y.S. is one of my favorite songs on Aiko's debut album. The title stands for Why Aren't You Smiling and it's particularily beautiful and meaningful because it's literally a text her now dead brother sent to her back in 2012... why aren't you smiling?

The song heavily describes Jhene's struggles and ways to get past her brother's death and her motivation to keep going. Jhene Aiko isn't a prime vocalist but with songs like this, who honestly cares?

I gotta keep going.

Nick Jonas – Numb (feat. Angel Haze)

Album: Nick Jonas

Numb was the 3rd song we had heard from Nick's studio album, released after the incredible buzz single Chains and after the official lead, Jealous. After listening to Numb for the first time, the hype and thirst for Nick's album intensified completely.

Numb is an absolute killer and, if released as a single, it could become so much bigger than Jealous and Angel Haze's breakthrough song. The beat is really great - think of a Dark Horse - and Angel delivers a great verse to make things even better.

He love me, he love me now he don't.

Lana Del Rey – Brooklyn Baby

Album: Ultraviolence

Brooklyn Baby was released as a promo single prior to Ultraviolence and was satisfying and good for me at the time as it is now. It's an almost 6 minutes long affair typical from Lana, who is now singing however about love and the perks that come with it.

Her boyfriend's in a band playing guitar while she's singing Lou Reed and looking like a hipster with a rare jazz collection. She's a Brooklyn baby and she pulls it off damn well.

They say I'm too young to love you.

Azealia Banks – Ice Princess

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9paz88pkmk

Album: Broke With Expensive Taste

Ice Princess is such a great track and what makes it so great is the unconventional way it builds up with the chorus basically being a dance breakdown changing completely from the rap driven production on the verses.

Azealia spits it and she spills it good as per usual and Ice Princess could actually become a hit for her if coulda woulda should all stars align and all that. Probably not, unfortunately.

Colder than december.
