Look at Selena, Miley and Gaga though. Their labels gave up on their projects after underwhelming performance.

If album sales and single performance aren't up to expectations it seems that labels aren't spending the money to continue to promote them. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to move onto the next era/re-release.

But Katy's album has sold well and her tour is slaying.
